Collection: Rutile Quartz

Features

Rutile quartz is a natural mineral containing titanium dioxide crystals within the crystal, known in Japanese as kinjōtō-nyū suishō, commonly referred to as "needle quartz" or "gold line quartz." Needle quartz, with its diverse inclusions, sometimes curls like hair and is thus called "Venus's Hair," and it can also be referred to as "Cupid's Arrow" due to its arrow-like shape. Moreover, the more numerous and finer the needles are, the higher the value. Among them, the rarest and most famous is "Cat's Eye," which has a linear glow. Its brilliant beauty is extremely popular, and its value has correspondingly soared.

The types of needle-in-quartz are distinguished by the shape and color of the inclusions. For example, "Titanium Quartz" with rutile as the main inclusion, "Red Rutile Quartz" with a reddish tint, "Black Rutile Quartz" enveloped by black tourmaline, "Rabbit Hair Rutile" with soft hair-like inclusions, and many other diverse types exist.

Effect and Meaning

Rutile quartz is said to have stronger energy than ordinary crystals due to the characteristics of its inclusions. It attracts wealth, enhances financial fortune, strengthens decisiveness, and promotes mental stability (Gold Rutile); boosts passion, ensures safe childbirth, and protects family and child fortune (Red Rutile); blocks negative energy and enhances career luck (Black Rutile), etc.

Rutilated Quartz Types

  • Titanium quartz: Gold rutile containing (most popular)
  • Red /Silver-lithium: Color changes based on the ratio of iron oxide and titanium.
  • Black tourmaline: A protective type that includes black tourmaline.
  • Green rutilated quartz: It contains green needle-like or fibrous amphibole.
  • Blue Tourmaline: A crystal that contains blue needle-like crystals.
  • Rabbit Ear Rutile: A type of rutile quartz that contains soft, fluffy needle-like crystals resembling rabbit fur.

The quality is good or bad.

  1. Types and density of inclusions: Those with a high content of rutile and no bias in the way they are included.
  2. Color vividness: The coloration that is characteristic and distinct for each type.
  3. Transparency and absence of damage: The crystal part should have high transparency with no cracks or haze.
  4. Processing technique: To bring out the beauty of inclusions, stones are cut in cabochon style (e.g., loose cuts emphasize the three-dimensional appearance of inclusions).

How to distinguish between real and fake rutile quartz

  • An unnatural-looking color.
  • The rutile is artificially arranged.
  • UV Substances that react to light and fluorescence (natural substances do not react).
